Sea walls, other new infrastructure would protect Crisfield
Berms, elevated roadways and sea walls could shield much of Crisfield. But even then, infrastructure modeled by researchers last year would only safeguard against up to 2.5 feet of sea level rise. Crisfield’s FEMA-backed plan would have provided even greater defenses, stopping storm surges up to five feet.
